Rancho Viejo GAP Science Schedule
For the 2011 school year, GAP students have a ninety minute period with each teacher, plus an additional forty-five minute period at the end of the day. In Mrs. Peterson’s rotations, students participate in a daily science period (reading, taking notes, learning, and investigating Arizona science standards). When they return in the afternoon for the forty-five minute period, sixth graders will work on writing or ALS lessons. Science Homework Students will have science homework every Tuesday and Thursday. The assignments should take approximately 20 minutes. Occasionally, homework will be graded. It will always be checked for completion. Students will also have different types of projects assigned once or twice each quarter. These projects will be assigned at least a week or two in advance. Directions will be handed out and explained, and students will sometimes be allowed choices. Please check your child’s planner daily, and help him / her to plan and budget time to get these projects done gradually, instead of in a rush at the last minute. This will help your child to earn better grades by being more thorough and neat! Homework Help
Open Classroom will be changing starting in January. It will be available only on Thursday morning from 8:00 to 8:45. This will be in Mrs. Peterson’s classroom (21). If your child needs assistance with work for any subject, they can ask me and I will be glad to help.
As always, parents are welcome to call, email, or stop in with questions or concerns. Remember, we are all working together towards the education and success of your child!
