Novel Updates

Students have finished reading their second novel using literature circles to discuss the books.  Their project for the most recent book includes a summary, opinion, comparison between two novels, and a creative cover.  These assignments help the students practice skills from the Arizona English Language Arts standards. 

We will begin a new novel soon.  Ask your child to tell you about the novel they are reading!
Standards Review
We are using a wonderful resource to review all of the reading standards for each grade level.  This will take about 4 weeks.  As we complete a short review lesson with practice, students are taking a short quiz showing their mastery of the skill.  This should ensure that all students meet or exceed on the reading portion of AIMS.  That is our goal!
ALS
Keep up with the ALS lessons!  Remember the L in ALS stands for LEARNING so it is important that not only that the mastery tests is completed, but that students KNOW the information!  Students should have more than half of the lessons completed at this time.  Our goal is that students will complete their grade level lessons and and get into the next grade level lessons!
